Clinton Visit to Israel - December 12-15, 1998
President Clinton arrived in Israel, as agreed upon at the Wye River talks, to advance the peace process between Israel and the Palestinians. He attended a meeting of Palestine National Council members in Gaza, which voted to nullify the sections of the 1964 PLO Charter calling for Israel's destruction.

Stoning in Ramallah
On December 2, 1998 a Palestinian mob attacked an Israeli civilian and soldier driving near Ramallah. Although apparently spontaneous, the assault was filmed by Palestinian photographers. Palestinian policemen did not immediately intervene. The soldier was beaten and the car set alight.
